Hurricanes Can Change Course — Be Prepared, Cape Coral!
Listen, hurricane season's here, and we've got a storm headed for the Florida Panhandle right now. But never assume that's the destination. Storms can turn at the last minute, just like Hurricane Charlie did, and other hurricanes have too. Always follow the news before the storm to get the best updated information.
Here's what you should have on hand: water, a gallon per person per day for at least three days. Dry food and a manual can opener. Full gas cans, and keep your car topped off at a hundred percent before the storm gets close.
A generator, but never run it indoors or in a garage as carbon monoxide kills more people after storms than the storms do. Emergency numbers written down, not just in your phone.
Charged batteries and extras, plus flashlights and battery's for lights. And if it's coming close, board up your windows or use shutters since tape won't hold glass together, that's a myth, if you're told to evacuate, GO. Most hurricane deaths come from people staying in flood zones, not from the wind.
We're probably going to get a lot of rain this weekend because of the storm. I'll do a better report later on this, but for right now be prepared. Stay safe out there.
