Greater Support for our Veterans

3/18/26, 8:30 PM

Rick's Action Plan to help our veterans to access the care they deserve and live up to our Purple Heart City status.

Our veterans earned more than gratitude, they earned access. In Cape Coral, routine services are available, but hospital-level care often requires long travel to Tampa. That is a failure of access and a burden on those who have already carried enough. We will fix it.

My Action Plan

We move with purpose. I will lead a coordinated effort with Florida’s congressional delegation starting in Florida's 19th congressional district, alongside Lee County Veterans Services and local advocates to expand VA care in our region. This will be a focused campaign: petitions, formal resolutions, and direct engagement with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to secure expanded services.

We will push for federal appropriations to bring hospital-level care closer to home. Through a full-service VA facility, expanded clinics, or strategic partnerships that deliver immediate capacity. Every option is on the table. The objective is clear: reduce travel, increase access, and deliver timely care.

Execution will be relentless. Defined milestones. Continuous pressure. Public reporting on progress so veterans know exactly where the effort stands.

This will take time, but it will not stall. Our veterans did not hesitate when called. We will not hesitate in delivering for them.

End state: accessible, reliable, and local care for our veterans so they can receive the treatment they deserve without leaving their community.
