Transforming the Old Golf Course into a Community Asset

3/16/26, 9:00 PM

Rick's Action Plan to maintain the local-community feel of the old golf course with no new taxes.

A 175-acre property in the heart of the city is sitting idle. It is an eyesore, a safety risk, and a wasted opportunity. Residents have been clear: they want usable green space, not another bloated, high-cost project. We will take control of this asset and put it to work for the community.

My Action Plan

We move now. I will drive the rapid conversion of this site into a low-cost, high-impact community park. The mission is simple: clean it up, secure it, and open it for public use.

The design will be practical and efficient; walking and biking trails, open green space for events, picnic areas, native landscaping, and integrated stormwater management. Low maintenance. High value. Built to serve residents, not bureaucracy.

We will fund this the smart way: use existing master-plan dollars, aggressively pursue state recreational grants, and bring in local businesses and volunteer groups to support key amenities like playgrounds and dog parks. No new taxes. No luxury spending.

Execution will follow a strict timeline with defined milestones. This site will not sit in limbo. Within two years, it will be operational, safe, and delivering value to the community.

If there is clear, measurable community support for a limited golf component, we will evaluate hybrid options, but only if they align with environmental realities, zoning, and long-term sustainability.

End state: a clean, safe, and functional community asset that raises property values, improves quality of life, and proves we can deliver results on time and on budget.
