Protecting Privacy: No AI Surveillance on City Vehicles
3/17/26, 12:00 AM
Rick's Action Plan to curtail government overreach and limit use of AI surveillance on city vehicles.
Outfitting city vehicles with AI cameras for automated code enforcement is government overreach. It treats every resident like a suspect and undermines the spirit of Florida’s privacy protections. We are not turning garbage trucks into surveillance tools. We are not policing neighborhoods by algorithm. That line will not be crossed.
My Action Plan
We act decisively. I will move to prohibit the use of AI surveillance systems on all city vehicles...no exceptions, no pilot programs, no backdoor deployments.
Code enforcement will return to its proper mission: respond to legitimate complaints and verified violations, not conduct blanket sweeps of entire neighborhoods. Targeted, lawful, accountable.
Funding will be redirected away from surveillance schemes and into core services that residents actually need: sanitation, infrastructure, and public safety.
Clear policy will be established and enforced: no aerial surveillance, no automated neighborhood scanning, no data collection without cause. Privacy is the standard. Freedom is the priority.
End state: a city that protects its residents, respects their privacy, and enforces the law with precision and not intrusion.
